village scene 1

As a result of my 9 to 5.30, or 7pm job (at the moment), invading my usual relaxing, toy-making time, there is an absence of any works in progress, and nothing fun or exciting to report on that front.

So, I am going to start posting a weekly scene from around my village.

I have always been a bit of a city slicker, but am now a country bumpkin well and truly. In our village we have a post office, shop, newsagent, a hairdresser and beauty therapist. I love the fact that we can get on our bikes, or put on our boots and be beside a river, looking at a sky full of stars, or buying some home made cakes from the farm shop down the road. Its lovely.

Three bears

This is one of three little bears going in my shop today.
Kobi, Kima and Lotty.
Named after three lovely tactile rugs I am coveting for the front room! Soft and chunky just like my bears! I know its spring and the weather is lending itself to rugless rooms, but I have been wanting one for months, and think our front room will be so cosy for it.

Recommended viewing whilst sewing, Open Season, cute rabbits and lots of inspiration for softies!

a little sewing after a big walk

We had a fun weekend of walking/DIY/cooking nice food/dvd's and sleep-ins.

Managed a little time for sewing, after our huge (13 mile) country walk.
Tired legs welcomed the big sit down with the fire burning. A nice glass of red wine to drink, whilst unpicking and sewing was a great way to end the weekend. Heaven!

I am currently working on some little bears to go in my shop, small and cuddly for little arms. Will hopefully have them in the shop by the end of the week.

Big Ed

This is Big Ed, he is going in the shop today. He evolved from an idea, to a sketch in my book, to this little cutie! A pink, slightly scared looking little bunny. Although my husband says he looks like a dog, hmmm. I just don't see it myself.

get ideas in book

I have so many ideas for toys and art in my head that it is difficult to sit down and decide where to begin.

I have invested in an understated, but really perfect, drawing book from Muji. It sits on my desk next to me at work and waits patiently for inspiration to stike and a quick doodle to appear on one of its pages.

A doodle a day is all I need to keep me content, whilst I click away at the latest 200 page power tool catalogue I am currently working on. Inspiring? No.

Never mind, I have found a new source of creativity in sewing, and am constantly inspired by the fabulous women who have been creating and sharing their experiences via blog.

Best go and sharpen my pencil for another day at work.

And here she is

This is Flo, a girly name for a girly bunny. I will be putting her in my shop, along with some other lovelies at the end of this week.
